As part of the Australian Economy Stimulus Package, the Building Education Revolution (BER) was an initiative aimed to modernise schools through the delivery of necessary infrastructure and, by doing so, supporting local jobs and stimulating investment. The schools were in the Hunter, Central Coast and Northern Sydney regions of NSW.
Lend Lease required atlantis’ services in it’s capacity for the full furniture fit out. Alongside our move smart team delivering new school furniture, our services team were required to install and fit all furniture items including kitchens, desks, shelving and racking.
Much of the works had to be scheduled in accordance with schools opening times, holidays and breaks including after hours and weekend works. Forward planning, patience and diligence by all stakeholders allowed for a smooth transition with minimum disruption to daily activities.
To complete the task, atlantis were to receive deliver of furniture on a daily basis, store the goods in a 35,000m3 facility, pack/ stage/ transport/ unpack to the specified school.
The atlantis project team was given deadlines to complete the relocation with 4 key milestone dates set. Prior to atlantis beginning works, stringent checks were conducted on all staff including police and PED checks.
The atlantis Project Manager was required to complete prior to commencement and submit methodologies for the following:
- Submission of a project timeline
- Packing sequence and labeling
- Transportation and packing
- Manifest verification and sign off
- Ensure that all necessary labour, vehicles and material handling equipment are available for the project duration
- Site safety plans for each school individually
- OHS management plans
